The Blackmagic 3G-SDI Shield for Arduino is an expansion board with 1 SDI input and 1 SDI output. The SDI input accepts any SDI video source, while the output connects directly to the camera, embedding camera control commands into the SDI signal. Developers can find the required control commands in the official manual and integrate them directly into Arduino code, facilitating easy remote management of cameras.
The Blackmagic SDI Control Protocol embeds camera and lens commands into the data interval of the SDI signal, including color correction, tally, talkback, and two-way program transport, eliminating the need for additional cables or complex setups. The protocol is fully integrated and documented within Blackmagic cameras, ATEM switchers, DeckLink cards, Video Assists, and viewfinders, and is also supported by third-party manufacturers.
