Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K – 6G-SDI and HDMI 4K PCIe capture card
DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K is Blackmagic Design's most compact capture card for bringing an Ultra HD signal into a computer. It has one 6G-SDI input and one HDMI 2.0a input, detects the incoming format automatically and records all SD, HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p30, including HDR.
What the DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K is for
It is the typical choice for streaming and live production on a PC: a camera, a switcher or a game console connected over SDI or HDMI becomes a source for switching, streaming or recording software. Thanks to its low profile design it also fits compact computers and racks in broadcast trucks, and the Blackmagic Desktop Video SDK lets you build custom capture applications for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Inputs, formats and quality
The SDI input accepts 10-bit SD, HD and Ultra HD signals with 16 embedded audio channels; the HDMI 2.0a input carries 8 audio channels and supports Deep Color up to 12 bit. Up to 1080p60 the card also captures 12-bit RGB 4:4:4, useful for graphics and keying. Both inputs receive HDR static metadata with HLG and PQ curves, in Rec. 601, 709 and 2020 color spaces.
The limit to know is frame rate: in Ultra HD and 4K DCI it goes up to 30 frames per second. Capturing 2160p60 requires the DeckLink models with 12G-SDI connections. As with all capture cards, the HDMI input cannot record copy protected sources.
Installation and compatibility
The card uses a 4 lane second generation PCI Express slot and also works in 8 and 16 lane slots. Two brackets are included, full height and low profile. It works on Windows, Linux and Mac Pro computers with PCI Express slots; the Desktop Video driver includes Media Express for recording, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey and the setup utility, and the card is recognised by software that supports Blackmagic devices.
