Blackmagic Design DeckLink Studio 4K – 4K PCIe card with SDI, HDMI and analog
DeckLink Studio 4K is the DeckLink card for people who work with digital and analog equipment at the same time. It captures and plays back SD, HD, 2K and Ultra HD up to 2160p30 through 6G-SDI and HDMI, and adds a full set of analog video and audio connections, sync reference and deck control.
What the DeckLink Studio 4K is for
It is designed for editing, graphics and playout workstations that still need to talk to analog gear: tape decks, monitors and switchers with component or composite inputs, balanced audio desks. The Sony compatible RS-422 port controls decks for capturing and laying back tapes, and the Black Burst or Tri-Sync reference input locks the card to the rest of the facility.
Connections
Digital: 1 x 10-bit 6G-SDI input and output (4:2:2 at 6G, 4:4:4 at 3G) with 16 embedded audio channels in HD, 2K and 4K, and 1 x HDMI 1.4b input and output with 8 audio channels. Analog: component YUV video input and output on 3 BNCs (SD and HD), composite and S-Video, plus an extra SD-SDI output. Audio: 4 channels of balanced analog audio in and out on 1/4 inch jacks and 2 channels of AES/EBU, with analog outputs 3 and 4 switchable to AES/EBU for a total of 6 digital output channels.
Conversion and post production work
The built in hardware down converter also outputs HD as SD on the SD-SDI, composite and S-Video outputs during playback, useful for checking the program on traditional monitors. On capture, SD to HD up conversion is done in software, with a choice of 16:9 zoom or anamorphic. The card supports real time effects in DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, and includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey and the Desktop Video driver for Mac, Windows and Linux.
DeckLink Studio 4K, Mini Recorder 4K or SDI 4K?
If you only need to capture from SDI or HDMI, the DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K costs less and fits a low profile slot. If you need capture and playback over SDI only, there is the DeckLink SDI 4K. The Studio 4K is the one to choose when, besides SDI and HDMI, your facility still has analog equipment or you need reference and RS-422 control. It uses a 4 lane second generation PCI Express slot (it also works in 8 and 16 lane slots) and draws 22 W.
