The HyperDeck Shuttle is ergonomically designed for desktop use, allowing intuitive one-handed control thanks to its angled profile. Its large 7-inch HDR display facilitates clip navigation with dedicated play, pause, and record buttons, alongside an integrated timeline. A comprehensive Head-Up Display (HUD) shows crucial information like timecode, file status, and audio levels, complemented by professional tools such as broadcast-quality scopes, focus assist, and an RGB histogram, all accessible via touchscreen. Settings, including 3D LUT management, are easily modified through on-screen menus.

The control panel offers a tactile experience with broadcast deck-style keys. Recording of the video input in the desired format begins instantly upon pressing "Rec." Playback and clip navigation keys are present, supported by a large, machined metal search dial for shuttle, jog, and scroll functions. All these functions can also be controlled remotely via Ethernet.

A standout feature of the HyperDeck Shuttle is its ability to record directly to network storage, centralizing storage and eliminating the management of multiple media. The HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro model enhances this by integrating M.2 flash memory card slots, transforming the unit into a genuine network-attached storage accessible by any editing software; with DaVinci Resolve, it's even possible to edit files while they are being recorded. Storage management is simplified by allowing users to select the destination folder on the network storage.

HyperDeck Shuttle supports leading broadcast codecs like DNx and Apple ProRes, as well as space-saving H.264/H.265 formats for resolutions from NTSC/PAL up to 2160p, with efficient compression ratios (60:1 - 285:1) for compact, high-quality files. Audio can be uncompressed PCM or AAC, and ExFAT/HFS+ compatibility ensures disk interoperability between Windows and Mac. It can also record long-duration events into a single video file.

In terms of connectivity, HyperDeck Shuttle offers a video input compatible with cameras and switchers (e.g., ATEM) and video outputs for monitors or for use as a media player with ATEM switchers. It includes 12V DC power, Ethernet for control and file upload, a USB-C port for external disks or software updates, and SD/UHS-II card slots.

The HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro model elevates performance with 12G-SDI and 4K HDMI connections, supporting a wide array of formats from SD (NTSC/PAL) to HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p including PsF) up to Ultra HD (2160p up to 60fps), with Level A and B management for 3G-SDI. Its 10G Ethernet port allows simultaneous access to the M.2 storage by multiple network users, file transfers via HTTP/S or FTP, and automation control via text-based and REST protocols, transforming it into an autonomous broadcast server.

Specific to the 4K Pro is also advanced support for HDR workflows, with compatibility for the latest standards, an integrated wide-gamut HDR display (Rec.2020, Rec.709, 100% DCI-P3), and automatic detection of HDR formats (PQ and HLG via ST2084) on SDI/HDMI. The professional scopes (waveform, vectorscope, RGB/YUV parade, histogram) automatically adapt to HDR and can be viewed overlaid or PiP.

Adding an M.2 card to the HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro converts it into an efficient network storage device, facilitating multi-user collaboration and integration with Blackmagic Cloud. This enables file synchronization with DaVinci Resolve for global workflows, including HD H.265 proxy files that upload quickly and can even sync while recording is in progress, offering a robust backup solution.

The 4K Pro's advanced digital slate simplifies metadata entry with automatic incrementing of take and reel numbers. This metadata, saved with the files, is fully usable in post-production with software like DaVinci Resolve, which leverages it to organize clips in the Source Tape. The entire system is managed by the innovative Blackmagic OS, ensuring instant power-on and access to all the machine's advanced features.
