Samyang 100mm T3.1 VDSLR ED UMC Macro – Canon EF mount
The Samyang 100mm T3.1 VDSLR ED UMC Macro is a manual focus telephoto macro cine lens designed for full-frame sensors. It reaches 1:1 magnification at a minimum focus distance of 0.307 m, for close-ups of flowers, insects, products and details, and also works as a 100 mm telephoto for portraits and landscapes. The optical design has 15 elements in 12 groups, including a high refractive (HR) and an extra-low dispersion (ED) element to reduce chromatic aberration, with Samyang Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) against flare and ghosting. This version has the Canon EF mount, for Canon EOS DSLR cameras.
Built for film and video work, it has gear rings for follow focus systems on both the focus and the aperture ring (0.8 mm module), and the de-clicked aperture changes exposure quietly and smoothly while recording. T-stop and distance scales are marked on both sides of the barrel, so they can be read by the operator and by the focus puller. The diaphragm has 9 blades for a nearly circular aperture, the barrel is in high-strength aluminium alloy and a detachable petal-shaped hood is provided. Lenses of the Samyang VDSLR line share the same colour rendering and the same position of the focus and aperture gears, which makes lens changes on a rig quicker.
