The Samyang 12mm T3.1 VDSLR ED AS NCS Fish-eye is a manual focus fisheye cine lens designed for full-frame sensors, with a 180° diagonal angle of view on full frame. Its projection design gives a softer, more controlled fisheye distortion. The optical design has 12 elements in 8 groups, including 2 glass aspherical and 3 extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, and the Samyang Nano Coating System (NCS) reduces flare and ghosting. Minimum focus distance is 0.2 m. This version has the Canon EF mount, for Canon EOS DSLR cameras.

Built for film and video work, it has gear rings for follow focus systems on both the focus and the aperture ring (0.8 mm module), and the de-clicked aperture changes exposure quietly and smoothly while recording. T-stop and distance scales are marked on both sides of the barrel, so they can be read by the operator and by the focus puller. The diaphragm has 7 blades and the barrel is in high-strength aluminium alloy. Lenses of the Samyang VDSLR line share the same colour rendering and the same position of the focus and aperture gears, which makes lens changes on a rig quicker.
